Amazon warehouse workers in Bessemer, Alabama are fighting to unionize their workplace and have called for solidarity and support. They have joined with the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union to launch the BAmazon Union organizing campaign. Workers are facing off against one of the largest corporations in the world.
Vote on whether the People’s Party should endorse and support the approximately 6,000 workers who endure harsh working conditions, including unsafe Covid practices. Stand with the predominantly Black workers who are fighting back against the union-busting CEO and richest man in the world, Jeff Bezos, and the racist, anti-union laws in the South that protect him.
The workers in this poor suburb of Birmingham, struck by the outsourcing of steel and railcar manufacturing since the 1970s, would be the first to successfully unionize an Amazon warehouse in America. They’ll be voting by mail till March 26 on whether to unionize. The Southern Workers Assembly is organizing a National Day of Solidarity this Saturday. Our vote to support them will be open till 8 AM ET Thursday, and we will announce the results ahead of our National Call at 8:30 PM ET that night.
