After months of hard work by our national team, it’s my pleasure to present our beautiful new website! To make things even better, we’re now on the best of all possible domains for our movement peoplesparty.org!
As part of our transition we’ve contracted with Action Network, one of the leading organizing platforms in the country. Action Network empowers our organizing leaders to coordinate events with volunteers more easily. It also gives you the ability to create local MPP events and feature them on our website for all to see and join. A big thanks to Suzanne O’Keeffe for leading the creation of our new site and Elise Mysels for setting us up on Action Network.
Browse the website and, if you can, please make a contribution to help us cover the costs of building it and working with a top notch organizing platform. We cherish your support.
I would also like to invite you to our May National Organizing Call tonight at 9:30 pm ET. We will be voting on whether to endorse the Rage Against the War Machine march in D.C. this October, a Green New Deal, and the Zero Hour Youth Climate Summit in Miami this July.
Guest Speaker Emma Fiala, executive board member of the Women’s March on the Pentagon, will share plans for Rage Against the War Machine. MPP Political Director Carol Ehrle will talk about a Green New Deal and our work with the surging youth climate rebellion. Both will answer your questions during our discussion before you cast your votes.
We will also cover updates in the news, including the espionage charges leveled against Julian Assange today, the GOP’s escalating assault on abortion rights, and the DNC’s appointment of an openly anti-Bernie lobbyist and Clinton bundler as Party Finance Chair.
We have four exciting events coming up that I’d like to share with you too.
Max Blumenthal – As part of the U.S. Hands Off Venezuela South Florida Coalition, MPP Florida is hosting Max Blumenthal in a three-stop tour through Miami and Fort Lauderdale next week. Max is an award-winning journalist and New York Times bestselling author. He will recount his time in Venezuela at the height of the U.S. coup attempt earlier this year at a panel and reception.
Poor People’s Congress – Rev. Barber and the Poor People’s Campaign have asked us to join with fellow National Partner Organizations at the Poor People’s Moral Action Congress in Washington D.C. on June 17-19. In turn, we would like to extend you an invitation to attend as part of our delegation.
Progressive Comedy Tour – Ron Placone and Graham Elwood are kicking off a northeast U.S. tour on June 12. They’ll be visiting Washington D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, New Haven, New York and Boston. Ron and Graham generously give our local members two free tickets and space to table for MPP at their events, which makes them wonderful organizing opportunities.
Left Forum – MPP is hosting a weekend get together and workshop at Left Forum in Brooklyn, New York City on Saturday June 29 and we would love to see you there. The conference is the biggest annual gathering of progressives in the country and our chance to make plans and spend quality time together.
