I’m happy to say that after her courageous show of support last weekend, Senator Nina Turner will be joining us on a National Call soon. She wanted me to let you know she’s been watching our movement with admiration for some time.
SNT has a history of standing up for what is right, even in the face of immense pressure and adversity. She is not afraid to stand up for bold new ideas.
Please shower some love and gratitude and respect on our new incredible friend and supporter. It takes vision and backbone to stand up to the Democratic Party after spending many years with it and building a life around it. Let’s take to social media and show SNT that we are her movement family and we will fight for her. Ohio activist and Bernie 2016 delegate Portia Boulger started a poll showing that we’re in good company!
This week, our hearts broke to see the horrific video of Ahmaud Arbery’s murder in Georgia. The 25-year-old Black man was chased and gunned down by two white supremacists while jogging through a neighborhood in February. The killers have now been arrested but we believe that the District Attorneys who protected them for two months must be removed from office. How many murdered Black men and women and their families never get justice because there was no video? Please sign the petition at Color of Change and make every public official think twice about their own future in public service before they would dare to protect white supremacist killers.
On Wednesday, we’re joining with youth climate activists and our partners at The Climate Mobilization to host a webinar on “Covid 19, The Climate Emergency, And The Battle For Our Future.” Zero Hour Founder Jamie Margolin and others will speak on the connection between the coronavirus crisis and the #ClimateEmergency. You’ll learn how to build power for a climate emergency response in your community. Join the call at 8 pm ET on May 13.
Wishing a very happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms out there!
