On Sunday, August 30, from 4-6 pm EST, thousands of Americans from all walks of life will gather to discuss the state of the nation at The People’s Convention. At the conclusion, participants will vote on whether to form a major new political party free of corporate money and influence.
Declaration of Independence from Corporate Parties
Expanded unemployment benefits and moratoriums on evictions and foreclosures are expiring at the end of July. We are less than three weeks away from 45 million people losing their unemployment lifelines and 23 million people facing eviction into a pandemic. Our unprecedented actions today will show Congress that if they don't want all of those people showing up at their homes with us, they had better pass a #PeoplesStimulus.
Because both parties have failed to stand with working people in their time of greatest need, organizers will march on Democrats and Republicans alike. Thirty-eight marches and rallies are on the action events map with more being planned. The rallies will be nonviolent, masks are required, and we will observe social distancing while calling for emergency relief.
A poem by The People's Party Poet
With historic unemployment and poverty gripping the country, and militarized police forces brutalizing Americans after Minneapolis PD murdered George Floyd, our survival depends taking bold action.
If Americans want the rebellion to end, the solution lies not with the military nor with the police placing bricks at peaceful demonstrations in a deliberate effort to instigate violence. The solution requires systemic change.
