For Eynelys Garcia: We never met in the flesh, yet every time I saw you on Twitter, whether it was with 2 views or 2,000, you showed up, and leaned into The People’s Work, not because it was your job, it was because you felt that it was your duty to take control of the narrative to fight for those who could not, by whatever reason or means, fight for themselves.
You fought for your sister, you fought for your family, and you fought for all of us, your human family. You showed up for us even when we didn’t feel like showing up for ourselves. You showed up for me even when I didn’t feel like showing up for myself. Though we never met in the flesh, I am saddened by this senseless killing. The sincerity, strength, vulnerability, and the ability to always show face and show up even when she didn’t feel like it is what puts her in the pedigree of extra-ordinary human beings!
I am saddened by Eynelys’ killing because one of us was killed. The very best among us was run over in the street and left to die. Life seems like an unending stream and most of us take it for granted that we are guaranteed to get up every day or always make it back to our homes or place of residence.
The fact is any of us can die at any time for no legitimate reason at all. Life is random and fucked up that way. The ones we love and care for, even though we may have never met them, remind us in their absence how precious and fragile a substance Life actually is!
As I sit in the dark writing this, I look into my own Soul and hope that even a small portion of all the other Souls rudely snatched from us can enlighten me and provide me with even a fraction of the compassion and empathy that they possessed. By whatever way we knew them, directly, indirectly, their memories live through us now…and when we fight, we also honor them as we honor ourselves and each other...may their Beautiful, Glorious Souls continue to inspire and guide us as we each in our own way, pick up the mantle and the gauntlet that they offer to us as we continue the Great Fight that awaits…May Their Souls be Anointed And their Memories last Forever…. by Erobos Abzu Lamashtu
